Thought of the Week with thanks to Rafi Goodman.
In this week’s Torah Portion, G-d instructs Moshe to tell Aaron that whenever he would light the lamps of the Menorah, he should ensure that the fire remains steadily burning on its own.
This carries a deeper spiritual meaning. It teaches us that when we ignite the flame of inspiration within ourselves or in others, we should not simply provide a fleeting moment of motivation and then move on. Instead, we are encouraged to stay close and actively support the development of that spiritual flame until it becomes self-sustaining and radiates a steady glow.
By remaining present and nurturing the soul’s flame, we ensure that the initial burst of inspiration evolves into a lasting and independent source of spiritual light. This concept emphasizes the importance of continuous effort, guidance, and support in the spiritual journey, allowing for personal growth and the transformation of others.
