Professor Chaim Sukenik grew up in the United States, completed his undergraduate studies at Yeshiva University in 1972 and received his Ph.D. in Chemistry at the California Institute of Technology in 1976. He moved to Israel in 1995 and joined the Chemistry Department at Bar-Ilan University as a Professor of Chemistry. Sukenik headed the Minerva Center for Biomaterial Interfaces, was the first Director of the Institute for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials at Bar-Ilan, and was the Director of the Marie Curie Training Site for the Fabrication of Nanoscale Materials sponsored by the European community. In 2013, Professor Sukenik took office as the 6th president of the Jerusalem College of Technology (Lev Academic Center).
