Thought of the Week with thanks to Avi Teleki. Pele eloquently wrote that ‘success is no accident’. The source for this is in this week’s Torah reading. Often we get swept up with our own hard work and the rewards that come from it, however we need to realise that our own work is an important part, but not the only part. As we will read this Shabbat: “…Lest you say in your heart, ‘My strength and the might of my hand have accumulated this wealth for me'”. We must always recognise the importance of our Creator in our lives. G-d is benevolent but also demands that we put in effort. As we move passed the dark days of Tisha B’Av towards the days of Elul, may G-d show even more mercy and bring us out of this exile!
