Mincha in the CBD: Our mincha minyan has moved to ABL – Level 21, 333 Collins St – for the next few weeks to improve availability at this time of year when mincha is very late. The weekly JBD shiurim have also moved, and we will continue to monitor things and adjust if necessary. After DST is over, we will move back to 459 Collins (or thereabouts). We hope this move doesn’t inconvenience anyone, and leads to a more reliable minyan during the next few weeks.

Kosher Food in the CBD: Deliveries have not yet resumed and will advise when they do.
Thought of the Week with thanks to Gaby Silver. The seemingly excruciating detail with which the Torah describes the construction, implements, garments, and sacrifices of the Mishkan in this, last and subsequent weeks’ sections begs the question: Why devote so much scriptural real estate to this (16 chapters), as opposed to the creation of the universe (a mere 3)? The answer lies in G-d’s preliminary statement: “They shall make for Me a sanctuary, and I shall dwell among them”. “them” – not “it”. We inhabit the world, but it is external to our true, spiritual essence. Conversely, G-dliness is internal to every Jew. In our interactions with the world around us, G-d tells us that the details are vitally important. It is when we are mindful that every single one of our thoughts, words and actions accords with the Divine Will, that we can truly create a “Tent of Meeting” – an intersection of physical and divine – within ourselves.
