JBD are pleased to welcome Rabbi Meir Shlomo Kluwgant to a lunchtime lecture on
How to kill an animal, humanely
Following a Four Corners report into the export of live animals for slaughter, there has been an uproar about abattoir practices in Moslem countries. There are now moves to ban all live exports, and a spillover objection into local kosher and halal slaughtering practices.
Is the traditional method of shechita barbaric? How does it compare to other contemporary methods? What is the impact of animal stunning? Hear first hand from a professional shochet, who will discuss the process and theology behind Jewish ritual slaughter.
Lunch will be catered by Daneli’s Deli
Men and women welcome
